Judge sets $25,000 bond for Louisville man arrested after speeding through fatal crash scene

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested after speeding through the scene of a fatal crash as police investigated.

It happened Saturday night. That's when the Louisville Metro Police Department was investigating a fatal crash at the intersection of New Cut Road and Brown Austin Road, near Outer Loop. Police had closed the roadway as eight police vehicles with emergency lights on secured the scene.

Logan Fentress, 28, stopped his vehicle near the scene, according to court documents. Fentress made a passenger riding with him give him their gun and get out of the vehicle. Then he did a burnout on the roadway and drove around a marked police vehicle that was blocking the roadway.

Police said Fentress drove at a high rate of speed toward officers who were working on the scene. Police had to quickly move out of the way as Fentress drove through the scene.

According to court documents, Fentress didn't stop his vehicle and sped away from the scene. He was arrested shortly thereafter when he stopped at a driveway at a house near the scene.

Police said he was aggressive and combative during the arrest.

Fentress was charged with wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, among other charges.

It was the second time Fentress was arrested last week. He was arrested early Tuesday morning after police said Fentress was driving at a high rate of speed and switching lanes without signaling on National Turnpike.

He was stopped and police said there was a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana coming from his vehicle.

He was charged with speeding, trafficking marijuana and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, among other charges.

The judge set a $25,000 full cash bond for Fentress, who said he has his own attorney. If he posts bond, Fentress is to remain under house arrest and is prohibited from driving or possessing firearms.

He is due back on court on March 6.
