LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An arson investigation is underway after a house fire in Louisville's Taylor Berry neighborhood left five adults, four children and a cat displaced on Friday.
A spokesperson for the Louisville Fire Department said crews were sent to the reported fire with a possible rescue in the 1300 block of Sale Avenue just before 7 p.m.
Firefighters were on scene within three minutes and found heavy fire in the front and side of the first floor of the house, which was spreading to the second floor.
Crews went into the house with hoselines to begin search and rescue, while firefighters outside used another hoseline to protect the house next door from the fire's heat, officials said.
Everyone in the house was able to evacuate before fire crews got to the scene. Officials said firefighters found and removed a cat from the home.
No one was injured. Officials said the house was significantly damaged, and the five adults and four children displaced by the fire are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Officials said it took 26 firefighters 19 minutes to get the fire under control.
The cause and origin of the fire is unknown at this time.
Louisville Fire's arson team is handling the investigation.
