LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- 'Tis the season for online holiday shopping and holiday hiring.

Amazon is looking to hiring nearly 250,000 employees across the country with 5,000 of those being in Kentucky for full-time, part-time and seasonal work. 2,000 of the jobs are just in Metro Louisville.

"The holiday season is always a special time at Amazon and we’re excited to hire 250,000 additional people this year to help serve customers across the country," said John Felton, Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations in a news release. "Whether someone is looking for a short-term way to make extra money, or is hoping to take their first step toward a fulfilling and rewarding career at Amazon, there’s a role available for them."

There is a wide range of roles up for grabs such as packing and picking to sorting and shipping. Fulfillment and transportation employees can earn between $17 and $28 an hour, depending on position and location.

Benefits include advancement opportunities, access to health, vision and dental insurance on the first day on the job, and company-match 401(k) and up to 20 weeks of paid pregnancy/parental leave.
