SELLERSBURG, Ind. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police troopers who lost their lives in service were honored Tuesday morning in Sellersburg.

Each name was read during the ceremony that's held every May.

It's often an emotional event, that is important to state troopers.

"Man they died for someone else, they died serving other people and there's not a greater honor on the planet than giving your life for another and that's essentially what they've done, and we ought never forget," ISP Superintendent Doug Carter said.

Carter said it's a high honor to say the names of the fallen troopers. He said it's been a hard five or six years for law enforcement, and hopes people will thank officers for their service.
