LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The second annual Artists & Afros is happening this weekend at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in west Louisville.

The community event highlights Black creativity through art, live music and cultural expression, featuring over 30 local artists showcasing paintings, sculptures and mixed media pieces for sale. Guests can also enjoy live jazz performances and interactive exhibits.

Local artists LJ Bryant and Donyalle Jackson spoke with WDRB before the event about their work and what visitors can expect.

"It is just such an expression of Black joy and it’s necessary, especially with everything going on in the world right now, that we continue to use joy as a tool for survival and as a means of resistance against all of the adversity that has come in and has always come in against us as a people," Jackson said.
