LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — With flu season on the horizon and COVID-19 and RSV cases on the rise, experts said now is the time to protect yourself.

The Centers for Disease Control predicts this year's respiratory virus season will be similar to last year, which brought more than 20 hospitalizations for every 100,000 person in one week at its peak.

Health experts said the best way top protect yourself and those around you is by getting vaccinated.

"Getting our vaccination numbers up is still an ongoing battle," Dr. Jared Eddy, National Jewish Health Infection Prevention Director, said. "You are able to get vaccines at the same time."

The CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older get an updated COVID-19 and Flu vaccines.

The RSV vaccine is recommended for all adults 75 and older and those who are pregnant. The vaccine is a one-time dose, so if you got one last year, you won't need another one this year.
