LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A woman who was hit by a train and died earlier this week in Louisville's Clifton neighborhood has been identified.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, 40-year-old Melyssa Stevenson died after being hit by a train on Tuesday morning at Stoll Avenue near Arlington Avenue, which is off Frankfort Avenue.
A MetroSafe supervisor said the call came in about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday about a train collision. A Louisville Metro Police spokesperson said when officers arrived, they found a woman on the CSX tracks who had been hit. Stevenson died at the scene.
The LMPD spokesperson also said the train conductor said the train's horn was sounded to get the attention of a person on the tracks, but the train couldn't stop in time.
