LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville's Better Business Bureau is warning the public about a fraudulent website that has been selling tickets to a fake "Louisville Fashion Week" event at the Mellwood Art Center.
The website -- which was still live and active on Sept. 24 -- is offering tickets priced from $500 to $900 for a four-day event scheduled for Nov. 6-9, according to a news release.
The site also claims the Brown Hotel and 21c Hotel are offering special rates when using promo code "LVFW." Both hotels have confirmed they do not have any special rates under that code. Staff at the Mellwood Arts Center also said they have no knowledge of Louisville Fashion Week, and no event had been booked there, according to the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
All of the photos on the site were actually from other fashion shows and not affiliated with the event. The BBB said the site is likely a scam intended to steal money and possibly personal information. People who have already purchased tickets are advised to contact their bank or credit card company and report the purchase as fraud.
The Louisville BBB strongly urges people not to buy tickets from the website, www.louisvillefashionweek.net, and suggests reporting any suspicious event sites by calling 800-388-2222 or online HERE.
