LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) āĀ For Bellarmine Universityās newest students, their first week on campus included lending a hand for a good cause.
Freshmen joined Change Today, Change Tomorrow in Louisvilleās California neighborhood for Bellarmineās "Knights in Action" day of service.
Students helped pave a walkway that will make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to get around the area and take part in community programs and events.
For freshman Marion Wardlaw, the day was also part of adjusting to a new environment.
Wardlaw came to Bellarmine after attending Central High School in Louisville and expected college to be a much bigger change.
"I thought it was going to be different," Wardlaw said. "Being in spaces I was 100 percent comfortable, I wouldn't have room to grow. So I figure Bellarmine would be a change."
Instead, Wardlaw said Bellarmine has still given a sense of community and family.
