LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Bullitt County are conducting a homicide investigation after a woman's body was found along the side of a highway early Thursday evening.Â
Bullitt County Sheriff Walt Sholar said in a written statement that a bicyclist found the body in a shallow ditch in the southbound lane of Highway 1020 around 5:15 p.m. Nov. 9 and flagged down a passing driver to call 911.
When officers arrived, they found "a white female, deceased," Sholar said, adding that her identity is unknown at this time. Sholar said the woman was face down in a shallow ditch when found, but officers turned her over and immediately knew foul play was involved.Â
The body was taken to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.Â
