LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Baptist Health cut the ribbon on a new rehabilitation hospital in Louisville on Monday.

The hospital located at 11800 Bluegrass Parkway is a joint venture with Encompass Health, which is the nation's largest owner of inpatient rehab hospitals. Services will include helping patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and more.

Patients will receive intensive therapy, physician visits and 24-hour nursing care.

"There is definitely a need in the community for patients that require this level of care and it's all about getting the right type of patients to the right level of care at the right time," said Andrew Strausbaugh, CEO of Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

The hospital has 40 inpatient beds and will start serving people this month.

"Everything from the size of the spaces to the safety measures that have been taken and even to this gym all has been designed to get folks as independent and back into work, play, whatever that is as quickly as possible," said Jonathan Velez, president of Baptist Health Louisville.
