NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- Baptist Health Floyd cut the ribbon on a new multimillion-dollar expansion on Tuesday in New Albany.
The new Cardiovascular Unit at the southern Indiana hospital features 32 new rooms with universal beds to keep care centrally located.
"So in a lot of places, as somebody comes in if they start off being acutely or critically ill, and as they progress they get transferred to different rooms. Here they will stay in the same room their entire stay," Michael Schroyer, president of Baptist Health Floyd, said.
Hospital officials said a cardiac catherization lab will also be in the unit, eliminating the need to transfer patients to different parts of the hospital.
The expansion has been in the planning stages for several years. It's part of a $65 million renovation at the hospital that also includes a new operating room.
The new Cardiovascular Unit will start accepting patients Wednesday. To learn more about Baptist Health Floyd, click here.
