LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- BJ's Wholesale Club broke ground Tuesday on its first Kentucky location.
The membership club is being built on Outer Loop, near the Jefferson Mall, in Okolona. The location will also have a BJ’s gas station on-site.
Matthew Leitao, vice president of market development, said BJ's will bring big savings to Louisville families, offering 25% off grocery store prices every day.
"If you drive by here, you're going to see a transformation," Leitao said Tuesday. "You're going to see over 100,000 square feet go up. We're going to employ well over 100 people, and it's really going to be an exciting opportunity to see the building rise up. And we're so excited to open the doors."Â
BJ's is expected to open in January or February next year. Once open, the company will donate unsold produce, meat, and dairy to Dare to Care food banks.
