LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Butchertown cheese and charcuterie shop will start serving customers at its new location this spring.

Cultured will start operating out of Copper & Kings Distillery sometime in April, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

The shop's original location on East Main Street closed March 7 ahead of its move around the corner to East Washington Street.

Cultured owner Jessica Mattingly cited rising costs and the demands of parenthood as reasons for the move.

"Things have gotten more expensive this last year — overhead is a lot more," Mattingly told LBF. "But the other side is more personal. I have small kids and I'm here all the time. I had to find a way to be home on weekends and at nighttime."

Cultured opened in September 2020, highlighting products from Kenny's Farmhouse Cheese, which is operated by Mattingly's father on the family farm in Glasgow, Kentucky. It's known for its made-to-order charcuterie boards that feature local products from companies such as Red Hog and What Chefs Want.

"Everyone will be able to to-go boards like they do now, but they have to come there if they want to dine-in," Mattingly told LBF. "We'll provide food for Copper & Kings, for their events. And they have that rooftop bar. People will be able to order charcuterie there."

Specific days and hours for the new location have not yet been announced.
