LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Derby City Gaming celebrated a milestone in downtown Louisville on Wednesday.
Derby City Gaming opened Dec. 6, 2023, 150 days before the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby. Bars, lounge, live entertainment, sports betting and nearly 500 historical racing machines are part of the $92 million facility.
There will be giveaways like crystal glasses on Friday. The following day, there will be drawings for $1,000 in free play money from 4-10 p.m.
Derby City Gaming Director of Marketing Evan Landherr said the additions of nearby restaurants at the corner of 4th and Market streets, along with downtown's focus on revitalization is helping the area grow.
"Being new to the downtown market, we're really leaning on some of the local businesses that have already been here," Landherr said. "We have relationships with some of the downtown restaurants, the hotels, so again, the downtown community has really embraced us and welcomed us."
The facility brought 150 jobs to the area.
