LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Tax filing season is upon us. If you are dreading the time and cost involved, TurboTax is making it easier with a new free mobile program.
But, it comes with a lot of catches.
All the advertisements say to switch to TurboTax for $0 and file for free this year, but you must be filed by Feb. 18.
A lot of people don't even have all their W2's and 1099's by then.
Also, the program is for new customers only. If you used TurboTax las year, you're out of luck.
The good news though - the mobile app is free for filing both federal and state returns, and is still free even if you have more complex taxes.
The program is considered to be better than many programs in the IRS' free file program.
The downside of the money saver is that it's only available on your phone. Many people prefer to do their taxes on their laptop so they can see full pages.
Unfortunately, TurboTax says you'll have to pay regular pricing if you switch to a web browser on your laptop.
