LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Have you heard about the toll booth scam text messages that claim you owe money for a toll?

As summer travel begins, there is a new version you need to know about.

The new text message claims you have an outstanding traffic ticket, and says if you don't pay it immediately, your registration and driving privileges will be suspended.

Drivers are claiming that this message is more threatening than the others.

States are now warning drivers that they will never reach out by text message demanding money.

Bottom line: Don't respond to any unsolicited text message. If you are unsure, call the agency directly and talk to a real person.
