LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Are you tired of the ever-rising grocery prices? You may want to join the millions of shoppers who now buy more store brands than name brands when they shop.

I don't know whether you've heard, but Aldi in the next few months is going to be making some big changes. They are going to be consolidating all their store brands under one label called "Aldi Originals."

It's a big change, but shoppers say they are fine with it because they love the store for its savings.

Store brands have come a long way since the generic products of the 1970s. Target's "Good and Gather," Walmart's "Great Value," Costco's "Kirkland," Kroger's "Private Selection," and anything at Aldi are typically 15% cheaper.

Consumer reports blind tests found several top quality store brand products such as cheese, frozen vegetables, ketchup, sandwich bags, and sunscreen. Surveys show that store brands have come a long way in quality since 10 or 20 years ago.

The surveys also found that they are still some products that customers stick to the name brands for, like breakfast cereal, coffee, cookies, especially Oreos, shampoo, and skin care products.
