LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A downtown Louisville bar will close its doors after 12 years in business.

Meta Bar's last day will be March 14, according to a social media post by owner Jeremy Johnson.

Johnson said it's been a "true adventure" for the last 12 years, and the bar has seen a lot of first dates, engagements and wedding receptions.

"Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end," he said in an Instagram post. "We are sad to have to go. Meta is so much more than these four walls. It has been a home to so many of us."

Meta, located at 425 W. Chestnut St., is one of downtown Louisville's longest-running craft cocktail bars, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

Johnson didn't get into specifics about why the bar is closing. He said that while the physical location is no longer viable, Meta could return through an occasional pop-up.

He said he's "looking forward to the next adventure," and encouraged customers to support other local bars and restaurants.

"We are just the latest in a long list of wonderful places that have had to close their doors the past couple years," said Johnson. "It's tough out there."
