LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Ford is cutting some SUVA production at its Kentucky Truck Plant after a fire at one of its major aluminum suppliers.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Ford will temporarily cut production of at least five models beginning this week.
KTP will not produce two of those five models, the Expedition or Lincoln Navigator. An official with the United Auto Workers told plant members about the decision last week, the WSJ reported.
The SUV pause is expected to last a week, according to a memo obtained by the Wall Street Journal.
The fire happened at a Novelis plant last month and it will not be operational until next year.
The plant supplies about 40% of the aluminum sheet used in the U.S., and Ford is considered its biggest customer.
Right now, the KTP is still making F-series Super Duty pickups, but a UAW official posted on Facebook that the plant "may run short over the next few shifts."
Ford also halted production at its other Louisville Assembly Plant, but resumed operations this week with only one of the two shifts.
