LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A bakery on Frankfort Avenue in Louisville plans to close in March after 13 years at that location.

Annie May's Sweet Cafe at 3110 Frankfort Avenue in the Crescent Hill neighborhood announced its plans to close in March. The bakery specializes in allergen and gluten free items that are available for shipping, retail and wholesale.

"Not only have the bakery sales been struggling since the pandemic hit, but the lease is up and I have decided not to renew it," Annie May's Sweet Cafe posted on Facebook. "I've had to make a lot of tough choices the last few years and the final choice was to try and make it to the end of the lease period and stay open as long as I could to serve you guys. This meant cutting lots of expenses, including all my labor."

Customers will still be able to place orders online, but the pickup location will change to a farmer's market. The bakery plans to have individual baked goods available at those farmer's markets.

The bakery will become a home-based bakery in April.

Annie May's Sweet Cafe plans to close on March 16, but orders can be made until March 9, 2024.
