Goodwill Industries of Kentucky announces director of West Louisville Opportunity Center

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Goodwill Industries of Kentucky has announced the director of its West Louisville Opportunity Center.

The Goodwill Opportunity Center is located at the corner of 28th and Broadway in the Parkland neighborhood. The 125,000-square-foot facility will house Goodwill's Kentucky headquarters and life-changing resources for thousands of neighbors.

Emery Scott Lee was selected to lead the nonprofit's largest of 12 statewide Opportunity Centers, which is scheduled to officially open on March 20.

There will be a variety of partners at the facility, including KentuckianaWorks, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana, YMCA, Volunteers of America and Legal Aid Society.

The Park Community Credit Union will help people who may not have a bank account. The Kentucky College of Barbering will be on-site, and the UofL College of Dentistry will provide services.

Lee previously served as the executive director of the Salvation Army's Center of Hope in Louisville. He has 30 years of professional experience in human service with focuses on youth, seniors and disadvantaged families in Louisville, according to a news release.

Lee has collaborated with the Lincoln Foundation's Whitney M. Young Scholars program, Kentuckian College Access Center, Louisville Urban League's Career Development Center, Jefferson Community and Technical College and more. He is also the founder and senior pastor of No More Limits Christian Church.

The Louisville native has served on local boards like Louisville Metro Dollars for Scholars, House of Ruth, Descendants of American Slaves Ministerial Alliance and the Fuller Center for Housing of Louisville, among other boards.

Lee is a graduate of Jeffersontown High School and grew up in the city's west end. He earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast communication and a master's degree in student personnel and counseling from Eastern Kentucky University.

The father and husband is also a U.S. Air Force veteran.
