LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Heuser Hearing Institute's Old Louisville clinic is undergoing a more than $6 million renovation.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, renovations at its main campus on East Kentucky Street in Old Louisville began June 1.
Along with modernizing the architecture, the construction on the 20,000 square-foot facility will help Heuser serve 30% more patients.
While renovations are underway, patients with appointments at the Old Louisville clinic will receive their care at the other clinic locations in the area, which includes the Gateway on Broadway, Lyndon, Masonic Homes and Breckenridge clinics.
Heuser is one of the city's largest nonprofit organizations operating six clinics in the Greater Louisville area. It is also the only nonprofit in the area to provide comprehensive hearing, speech, language and balance disorder services.
"This renovation is about much more than updating a building,” Brett Bachmann, president and CEO of HHI, told LBF. "It is about expanding access to high-quality hearing, speech, language and balance care while strengthening the nonprofit model that supports our patients, our Academy and the communities that have relied on Heuser since 1948."
Bachmann told LBF the project is funded by a three-year, $9.6 million campaign called Building Foundations, Amplifying Futures. The campaign launched in October 2024 and will run through October 2027.
The campaign has raised $6 million so far, and will continue to raise the remaining balance while the renovations progress.
Founded in 1948, the Heuser Hearing Institute clinic was originally established to help with academic and with the Heuser Hearing and Language Academy. All proceeds from the clinic directly benefit the school.
