LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A building near Metro Hall in downtown Louisville is going up for auction.

Online bidding for the four-story building at 209 S. 5th St., between Jefferson and Market streets, opens at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, and will close at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

The property will be sold to the highest bidder at or above $750,000.

The more than 9,300-square-foot building, which was built in 1878, has been on the market for more than a year, previously listed at more than $1.4 million.

It includes a finished luxury apartment on the second floor, while the other floors could be used as apartments, offices or retail space. The property also has a parking arrangement with a nearby parking garage, LBF reported.

"(Some floors) are unfinished, though certain areas have been framed. It does have a basement. It's been well taken care of for the age of the building. It's ready for someone to come in and do some positive upgrades to it," Bill Menish, SVN Menish Commercial Real Estate managing director, told LBF. "As downtown continues to prosper, this is a heck of a buying opportunity, right next to some really exciting, new developments."

The building sits next to the future Derby City Lofts at 44 W. Market St. and is near the Kentucky Home Life Building, which will reportedly become a mixed-use development, according to LBF.
