LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A national restaurant chain recently opened its first Louisville location, drawing hundreds of hungry customers to the Jack in the Box in Valley Station.Ā
The chaos begins in Valley Station, and can be seen from a distance on Dixie Highway. The drive-through line snaked around the restaurant and through parking lot.
Despite the long wait, customers didn't seem too bothered, although Dalton Bouthwell was caught by surprise.Ā
"I didn't expect it," Bouthwell said. "I'll tell you that."
Chelsea Meenich, who lives nearby said it's worth the wait.Ā
"This is my second time here," Meenich said. "We came Saturday and the food is great. So, it's definitely worth the wait."
Metro Councilwoman Cindi Folwer who represents District 14, said the new eatery is "great for Valley Station."
Fowler said the opening of the new chain on Dixie Highway is a trend that seems to be growing in the area. A McCallister's Deli and Marcos Pizza opened down the road recently, and a Five Guys is nearly ready to open its doors.
It's an area of Louisville that is making progress after a lot of loss of business.
"We didn't lose it overnight, and it's not going to come back overnight, but I feel certain that we are moving in the right direction," Fowler said.Ā
It took 50 minutes for the WDRB News crew to get food in the drive-thru, but many believe the extreme demand will taper in a few weeks.
However, Councilwoman Fowler believes the excitement is just beginning.
"People are paying attention now," Fowler said. "I think the opportunity is ripe."
Meenich agrees.Ā "I've lived here my whole life and I think it's great for the area," she said.Ā
