LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The longtime co-owner of Work the Metal in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood has died.
Jack Mathis died Sunday at the age of 61, the business said in a post on its social media pages Monday.
Work the Metal was closed Wednesday "with deep sadness and respect for our employees and our community who mourn our beloved Jack."
"This is a great loss for us, as it is for many of you," the post continued. "We love our loyal friends and customers, and are grateful for your love and support."
The boutique, inside the Butchertown Market building on Story Avenue, has been a fixture in the neighborhood for more than two decades, selling clothing, jewelry, home décor, chocolates and more. It's a busy spot during the holiday shopping season, as well as a staple of Small Business Saturday in the city.Â
