LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Known for its chocolates and cinnamon red hots, Jeffersonville's Schimpff's Confectionery was named the Best Candy Store in America 2025 by USA Today.
In a news release Wednesday, Schimpff's announced the honor that followed an online vote by the public to pick the best candy store in the country.
The popular locally-owned shop has been operating in downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana, for the past 134 years.
"Our hearts are filled with gratitude to all who voted for Schimpff's in USA Today's Best Candy Stores, during the past month" owner Warren and Jill Schimpff said in a news release. "Schimpff's would like to give a big thanks to all our devoted fans! We share this honor with all of you and with Jeffersonville."
The Schimpff's are fourth-generation owners of the confectionery and they added a cousin, Steve Shepherd, a fifth-generation family member, who will run the business after they retire
"There were comments from people all over the world voting for Schimpff's," Shepherd said in a news release. "From Sweden to Germany, all the way down to South Africa. So again, from the bottom of our hearts to each and every one of you, 'THANK YOU'"
"The Schimpff's are a great family with an amazing local business, and we're proud that they call Downtown Jeffersonville home," Jay Ellis, executive director of Jeffersonville Main Street, a revitalization organization, said in a news release.
Schimpff's Confectionery, located at 347 Spring St., sells a wide variety of candy including chocolates, toffee and Modjeskas. It also features a deli lunch counter and an authentic 1950's soda fountain and a candy.Â
Schimpff's Confectionary in Jeffersonville has been a community staple since 1891.
