LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Â The Kentucky Department of Revenue will begin accepting state individual income tax returns on Monday, Jan. 27, and Kentuckians are encouraged to file taxes early this year to avoid processing delays.
The department will begin processing returns the same day as the state transitions to a new, modern tax system that's supposed to be easier to navigate.
There will be a two-week pause from Feb. 26 to March 14 when the Department of Revenue won't be processing returns and refund payments. Staff will instead be answering phone calls from taxpayers during that time.
The deadline to file 2024 returns is Tuesday, April 15.
