LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A downtown Louisville brewpub is closed effective immediately.

A sign on the doors of Bluegrass Brewing Company at 300 W. Main St. says the location is permanently closed, according to our partners at Louisville Business First. It's unclear exactly when it closed.

"Serving our community since 1993," the sign says. "We appreciate your support over the years."

The first Bluegrass Brewing Company location opened in St. Matthews in 1993 and closed in 2017. The downtown location opened in 2010.

The closure comes as the beer industry is shrinking locally and nationally.

Bluegrass Brewing Company didn't give a reason for the closure.
