LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville-based acai shop is expanding into the downtown area this fall.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, Acai-Ville Café is expected to open its second location this October at 230 W. Broadway in the Weissinger-Gaulbert building, near the Main Library.
Husband-and-wife owners Laquan and April Walton opened the café's first location in August 2025, a 500-square-foot storefront located inside the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center on Muhammad Ali Blvd.
The new location will span about 2,100 square feet and allow the business to significantly expand its menu, according to Laquan Walton.
"We're gonna have smoothies with 9 to 11 different bases. At the sports complex, I think we have about three or four rotating," Laquan Walton told LBF. "We'll have some different options for lunch or breakfast like wheat toast with almond butter, granola, fruits and honey."
The shop specializes in acai bowls, smoothies and cold-pressed juices.
The Waltons are investing $20,000 into the new location, and have already completed renovations on the downtown space, which included painting and drywall repairs.
The café will be open Monday through Saturday and is expected to employ up to 15 people.
