Louisville-based Humana named one of People magazine's top 100 'Companies that Care'

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Humana among People magazine's top 100 Companies that Care.

The Louisville-based healthcare company came in at number 46 on the list. The annual list honors companies that "go the extra mile to honor their customers, empower their employees, and make the world a better place."

The article said Humana is committed to honoring the sacrifices of active-duty military, veterans and their families with jobs and development opportunities. The magazine praised the company for its Veterans Hiring Initiative started in 2011 that has added more than 6,000 vets and military spouses to its payroll.

Employees told Great Place To Work that they have a great work-life balance. Humana was also credited with caring about the well being of its employees and provides opportunities to stay mentally, physically and emotionally fit.

Humana employs more than 60,000 people across the United States.
