LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville-based Sazerac has made another move in the ready-to-drink space.

According to our partners at Louisville Business First, the beverage alcohol company confirmed Tuesday it entered a binding agreement to acquire Au Vodka, a United Kingdom-based vodka and RTD brand.

The deal is expected to close within the next few weeks. Terms were not disclosed.

Au Vodka was founded in 2015 and is known for its gold bottles. The company has about 80 employees and primarily sells its products in the UK, but it has a presence in other international markets.

"Sazerac works continuously to grow its business by investing in brands and building out its portfolio globally to connect with consumers," the company said in a statement to LBF. "The United Kingdom is an important market for Sazerac, and this opportunity enables the company to deepen its presence in the UK."

The company has made several moves in the ready-to-drink market in recent years. It acquired BuzzBallz in 2024 and Dirty Shirley earlier this year. Sazerac also invested in margarita-based RTD brand SIPMARGS in May.

Also back in May, the company attempted to buy its Louisville-based competitor Brown-Forman.

Sazerac offered $15 billion, or $32 per share, for the company. Brown-Forman rejected the takeover bid.

Sazerac is co-headquartered in Louisville and New Orleans. It is largely known for its Buffalo Trace Facility in Frankfort, which is the most visited distillery in Kentucky.
