LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Sazerac is making another move in the ready-to-drink cocktail market through a new deal with SIPMARGS, a canned margarita brand backed by social media star Alix Earle.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, Sazerac purchased an equity stake in the sparkling margarita company and will now serve as its exclusive distributor nationwide. Financial terms of the deal weren't released.
The partnership adds another celebrity-affiliated alcohol brand to Sazerac's growing portfolio as the Louisville spirits company continues expanding its ready-to-drink beverage lineup.
SIPMARGS sells tequila-based sparkling margaritas in flavors including Classic, Mango, Coconut, Mezcal and Spicy. The canned cocktails contain 5% alcohol by volume.
Earle said consumers have been asking when the drinks would become more widely available, calling the partnership a response to growing demand across the country.
Sazerac CEO Jake Wenz said margaritas remain one of the most popular cocktails for consumers and described SIPMARGS as a unique product in the canned cocktail space.
The announcement comes shortly after Sazerac invested in 818 Tequila, the tequila label founded by Kendall Jenner.
