LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man wanted in connection with a deadly downtown Louisville shooting in July was arrested more than 1,800 miles away in California.
Louisville Metro Police said Marlon Porro Duane, 25, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 20, in Indio, California, by the U.S. Marshals Service. Duane was wanted in connection with the July 19 shooting that killed 28-year-old Giovani Castillo Garcia.
Police were called around 4:14 a.m. that day to the 600 block of South 3rd Street, where officers found Castillo Garcia with a gunshot wound. Officers provided aid until EMS and the Louisville Fire Department arrived, but Castillo Garcia died at the scene.
A few hours later, police were called to UofL Hospital after another man arrived with a gunshot wound to his leg. Investigators said they believed he was also shot during the incident on South 3rd Street.
LMPD's Homicide Unit said Duane is charged with murder by complicity, attempted murder and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
