LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man died after he was hit by an SUV Thursday night while crossing Preston Highway in Louisville.
Louisville Metro Police responded around 9:10 p.m. to the 7200 block of Preston Highway on a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Police said their preliminary investigation found the man was crossing Preston Highway from east to west outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound SUV. LMPD said the area was not well lit.
The driver stopped after the crash and remained at the scene, according to police.
The pedestrian was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity has not been released.
Police said the driver is cooperating with investigators. Based on the preliminary investigation, LMPD said no charges are expected at this time.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
