LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Louisville food distribution company celebrated a $10 million expansion Tuesday.
Abastos Wholesale on Preston Highway will double its current footprint through the project.
The company distributes food, beverages, produce and other products to grocery stores and restaurants across the area. Many of those items are imported from Mexico and Latin America.
Its founders are immigrants who came to Louisville in 2001.
"Louisville has given our family everything, said founder and CEO Alejandro Ruiz Gonzalez. "So today we are not just celebrating, we are here to make a promise, this is our home and we are here to stay."
They've created a thriving family business over the years.
"Louisville has become more than the place where we grew up, it's where we built our dreams," said Ashley Ruiz. "We're incredibly thankful to call it home, and we're excited for many more achievements ahead."
Company leaders said the expansion will create 20 new full-time jobs.
