LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People are making more money in Louisville than in many other places in the U.S.
According to a study by online financial service SmartAsset, Louisville ranked fifth in the nation for income growth between 2023 and 2024. Median household income grew more than nine percent in that same time period rising from about $61,000 to $67,0000. The average family income in Louisville is nearly $77,000.
The number one place for growth was Tampa, Florida where household income shot up 15-and-a-half percent to $84,000. Long Beach, San Francisco and Fresno, California round out the rest of the top five.
Nationwide, the median household income reached $83,730 in 2024, growing just 1.3% year over year.
