Louisville Water program spotlighting local businesses using award-winning tap water

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Water is utilized by almost 24,000 businesses in the local area.

Made With Pure Tap is a program that launched last year to spotlight local beverage favorites in Louisville. The program has spotlighted drinks by Blak Koffee, Rivergreen Cocktails and Elixir Kombucha, according to a news release. It has also featured businesses like Above the Dirt Garden Shop, Kizito Cookies, MozzaPi Artisan Pizza, PG&J's Dog Park Bar, Trellis Brewing, Rabbit Hole Distillery, and the Louisville Zoo.

"We use Louisville Pure Tap literally all day every day. We’re buddies with other plant stores around the country, and not everybody is able to simply use their tap water [like us]," Paula Henson, owner of Above the Dirt, said in a news release. "The quality of water that we have here in Louisville is actually a rather big deal."

The program spotlights businesses with a video series that offers a behind-the-scenes look at how Louisville Pure Tap contributes to their success.

"The best drinking water can make some of the best products too. We’re proud to expand this program, which not only showcases the quality of Louisville’s water but also celebrates the small business owners who are the backbone of our community," Kelley Dearing Smith, vice president of strategic communications and marketing at Louisville Water, said in a news release. "Water is the anchor for quality of life and growing the economy."

Louisville's water treatment plant ranks among the top 19 in North America for quality that excels and has twice been named "the best tasting tap water" by the American Water Works Association.
