MeeshMeesh Mediterranean

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville restaurant made Yelp's list of the top 100 restaurants in the United States.

MeeshMeesh Mediterranean came in at No. 29 on Yelp's list.

The restaurant on East Market Street in NuLu is known for its crispy cauliflower, smoked lamb and chocolate babka. MeeshMeesh offers family-style Eastern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food and drinks.

MeeshMeesh means "apricot" in both Arabic and Hebrew. The restaurant opened in NuLu in 2023 and has quickly become one of the city's most popular restaurants. In 2024, it landed on Yelp's Best New Restaurant list.

Chef-owner Noam Bilitzer was just named a semifinalist for the 2026 James Beard Award. Bilitzer has received numerous awards and titles, such as being "Chopped Winner" on the Food Network show "Chopped." He was also named one of Louisville Business First's 20 People to Know in Tourism/Hospitality.

In October, our partners at Louisville Business First reported Bilitzer and the owners behind North of Bourbon would be opening a new restaurant called Mill Iron 4 in the former Enso location on Frankfort Avenue.

Yelp has been compiling a list of the best restaurants in the country each year for 13 years, showcasing "the highest-reviewed restaurants, diners, fast-casual spots, food halls and more — all ranked by the Yelp community."

To create the list, Yelp said it ranked restaurants using several factors, such as the total volume and ratings of reviews.

The No. 1 spot went to Ci Siamo in New York City.

Italian restaurant Pepp & Dolores in Cincinnati came in at No. 10 on the list.
