New York-style bagel shop plans to open 2nd location in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A New York-style bagel shop is expanding in Louisville.

Business First says Maya Bagel Express plans to open on Preston Highway near Clarks Lan by early December, our partners at Louisville Business First reported this week. The space was previously occupied by a KFC, which closed in August.

Maya Bagel Express offers a variety of breakfast and lunch sandwiches all day. The owners are Turkish immigrants who moved to Louisville from New Hampshire specifically to launch this business.

"Before we opened, I think there were only about two bagel shops," Murad Islamov told Business First. "I feel like we're the trendsetter in this industry in Louisville."

This will be the second location after the first opened several years ago on Poplar Level Road.
