LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A foundation in southern Indiana awarded more than $47,000 in funding to four local nonprofits.
The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana announced Monday it distributed funding with the Capacity Building and Community Assist grant program. The grant is designed to empower nonprofits that serve Clark and Floyd counties by addressing operating needs and funding impactful projects, according to a news release.
The foundation also provided an emergency discretionary grant to further support the region's vulnerable populations. That grant raises the total to $57,000.
"Through our year-round grant cycles, we've witnessed the immense value of providing local organizations with timely access to funding," CFSI president and CEO Linda Speed said in a news release. "This model allows our Foundation to fulfill its mission while supporting the unique goals of each organization. It also solidifies our leadership in the community, helping to improve the quality of life for all who call this region home."
The latest round of grants included:
Capacity Building Grants
- American Red Cross: Purchase of Blood Extraction Equipment ($16,185)
- Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana: Develop Strategic Plan ($21,000)
Community Assist Grants
- Dare to Care: Feeding Families in Southern Indiana Program ($5,000)
- StageOne Family Theatre: 'Play It Forward' Program ($5,000)
According to a news release, the foundation awarded an additional $10,000 to the Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana to support White Flag Shelter.
"This partnership reflects the power of collaboration within our community," Speed said. "By leveraging both our unrestricted funds and donor support, we're able to address urgent needs while fostering a culture of giving that amplifies our impact."
Grant recipients are selected quarterly, but applications are accepted throughout the year.
