LEBANON, Ind. (WDRB) -- Testimony has ended in David Camm's third murder trial. Closing arguments are set to begin on Monday.
Before that, jurors are expected to have another look on Thursday or Friday at the Bronco where the killings happened.
Camm was twice convicted of killing his wife, Kim, and their two children, Jill and Brad, in the garage of their Georgetown home on September 28, 2000, but both convictions were overturned on appeal.
Earlier on Wednesday, prosecutors sought to refute the defense's contention that Jill's blood got on Camm's T-shirt when he reached over her in the Bronco to get his son out of the car to try to save him.
The jury heard testimony from prosecution rebuttal witness Tom Bevel, a blood expert who has already testified. Bevel showed the jury pictures reconstructing the shooting inside the Ford Bronco, using mannequins to represent the children.
Bevel used a mannequin to depict Jill and a dowel rod to show path of bullet to her head. A laser pointer indicates the possible path of the blood spatter to Camm's shirt.
Defense attorney Richard Kammen criticized the photos, pointing out that Bevel didn't take notes on angles, etc.
Kammen also said blood wouldn't travel in a straight line, as depicted by the laser, but in a parabolic arc.
Bevel also showed a video of his son trying to recreate the murder scene in which David Camm claims he leaned in and pulled Brad out of car.
Bevel's son volunteered to help with the recreation and appeared in the video. Bevel said it took 10 attempts -- with his son intentionally trying each time -- before his T-shirt made contact with hair from the mannequin representing Jill.
The purpose of the video was to show that it was unlikely Camm could have contacted Jill's bloody hair with his T-shirt when he pulled Bradley from the Bronco as he described.
Kammen criticized the video, pointing out that the mannequin representing Bradley weighed only 25 pounds while the real Bradley's weight was closer to 70 pounds. Kammen said it would have been much harder to pull Bradley's body from the vehicle.
Camm looked up at the ceiling and shook his head as in disbelief as the video was shown.
Prosecutor Stan Levco said Wednesday, "The Bronco is a critical part of this case. They've seen pictures of it, they've seen people in it, but they'll get to see it themselves."
