LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A car show on Sunday in Louisville benefited a local hero.

Heroes and Hot Rods Car Show was held from noon to 5 p.m. at Mike Linnig's Restaurant on Cane Run Road. The event benefited Louisville Metro Police Foundation and LMPD officer Nick Wilt.

"It's been an absolutely amazing time, there have been some beautiful cars and delicious fish," said Rebecca Grignon Reker, executive director of Louisville Metro Police Foundation. "It's been a fun day."

Wilt was one of the first officers to respond to the Old National Bank shooting on April 10, his fourth-ever shift with LMPD. He was shot in the head and rushed to UofL Hospital for brain surgery. Wilt was in critical condition for weeks and battled pneumonia.

On Sunday, the car show had children's activities, bounce houses and bourbon raffles.

"This shows how Louisville feels about its police, police respond to us on our worst days, police are there for us whenever we need them," Grignon Reker said. "We are giving back to them. This shows how much love we have for them."

The car show cost $10 at the gate.
