LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Louisville intercepted nearly seven pounds of ketamine hidden inside a spool of ethernet cable bound for Belgium in late January.
The shipment was labeled “ethernet cable,” but a routine inspection took a turn when CBP canine Gandalf alerted officers to the package.
A closer examination revealed three packages of a white, crystal-like substance concealed within the wire. Testing later confirmed the substance was ketamine, with an estimated street value of $50,000.
“The dedication of our personnel and canine partners has prevented yet another shipment of dangerous drugs from reaching our communities,” said Louisville Port Director Phil Onken.
