LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A historic clock tower in southern Indiana is expected to come down and be rebuilt after being damaged, according county officials.Â
At least three tornadoes hit the Paoli area on Aug. 7, according to the National Weather Service. The historic Orange County Courthouse had damage to its bell tower and chimneys. The building was closed for several days for repairs and inspections. Homes were also damaged and some businesses in downtown Paoli lost brick walls.

Prior to 2023 tornadoes, the tower had been damaged from other storms and a fire in the 1990s.Â
The courthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was originally built in 1847. A clock was first put up in 1856.Â
