LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — As we approach winter, swimming may not be the first thing that comes to mind, but one Louisville neighborhood is focusing on how to make a splash once the weather warms up again.
A new pool at Camp Taylor Memorial Park on Poplar Level Road is scheduled to open next summer. The community met Saturday with Louisville Metro Parks and Recreation to ask questions and express concerns when it comes to parking and security at the pool.
The pool was supposed to be completed last summer, but construction delays pushed it back a year.
The pool closed in 2019, and the new pool with have a twisty slide and lap lanes.
"The good part about our pool being delayed, the one good part is that we've got lessons learned from the Algonquin Pool which opened this last summer, and so I think we are in a really good position to have sort of systems and structures in place that we need to have a great summer," Josie Raymond, Metro Councilwoman (D-10), said.
The Camp Taylor waterpark is scheduled to open next Memorial Day weekend.
