LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man died after a shooting near New Albany, Indiana, early Saturday morning.
The Floyd County Sheriff's Office said officers responded to a reported shooting at 5:39 a.m. at an apartment on Mel Smith Road, in an unincorporated area outside of New Albany.
Police said shots were fired inside the apartment before deputies arrived and the incident was between a mother and her two adult sons.
According to police, one of the men was shot and he was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
A preliminary investigation shows that the shooting may have been in self-defense, police said.
