CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Nearly two dozen new homes are coming to Clarksville in a place where space can come at a premium.
The early stages of construction are underway and it will make the most of limited space, putting 21 new homes on just two and a half acres.
"It's been a great place to live," Amy Rock, who moved to Clarksville from the Indianapolis-area about four years ago, said. "I do love living here."
For Rock, Aaron Riley, and their two daughters, The Town of Clarksville is home.
"It's mostly older homes in this area in particular, a lot of really, really old homes," Rock said.
The two love the historic feel of their neighborhood, and now welcome the new single-family "pocket" subdivision coming just around the corner from them on North Randolph Avenue.
"We usually just take the backroads in New Albany down Randolph, and (we) just noticed all the piping was there," Riley said. "It's going to be better in the long run."
Until then, large construction equipment, waits to be used.
"This is a great area for a little pocket neighborhood," Rock said. "I think it will be good. It needs something new and fresh and more modern."
The new and fresh look will include 21 new single, family detached homes with 3 to 4 bedrooms and a garage or driveway.

"It sounds nice. It's not necessarily a starter home, but I think for some of the families around here -- I know there are several people who have said that with the economy being the way that it is, they're looking for new housing, but it's just a really difficult market right now," Rock said.
Millennium Builders will be making each South Valley neighborhood home about 1,400 square feet.
"It's going to bring in a lot more revenue in the area," Riley said.
The 2.5-acre property was once home to Paper Products, Inc., but it closed in 2020 when the Clarksville Redevelopment Commission bought the property.
"Better to be something someone could use and love, than to be something that is old," Rock said.
Some people told WDRB off-camera Clarksville doesn't need this many new homes.
Rock supports the town's growth.
"It might help to raise the home value of what's around here a little bit with the newer homes being built," Rock said.
WDRB is still working to find out when the project with be completed. The listing prices are expected to be between $325,000 and $355,000.
