LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A project to enhance Jefferson Memorial Forest will start in the coming weeks.

The Tom Wallace Improvement Project is a $2.7 million investment at the forest in south Jefferson County. The project includes an accessible path around the lake, a new pavilion, a boardwalk in the wetland area of the park, improved parking, designated fishing locations around the lake, a kayak launch and more.

"We are extremely excited for this, much needed, investment and ask that you please bear with us during the construction phase," Jefferson Memorial Forest posted on Facebook.

Some areas of the park will be closed for short periods of time because of the project.
