LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A semi crash on the lower deck of the Sherman Minton Bridge shut down traffic Tuesday morning.

Louisville Metro Police sent an update on social media about 5 p.m. that all lanes opened more than six hours later.

According to LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis, officials were called to the bridge around 10 a.m. for a motor vehicle collision.

When officers arrived, they located a crash that involved "at least two semi-tractor trailers," according to a news release.

One of the tractor trailers spilled fuel on the roadway, resulting in a hazmat.

Traffic will be congested for a period of time as officials assess the situation.

The exact cause of the crash is currently unknown, according to Ellis.

One person reportedly has a minor injury, according to Louisville Fire and Rescue.

LMPD is handling the investigation.
